Sender ID Approvals — What's Going On

Your Sender ID is the name recipients see instead of a phone number. In Tanzania these are registered with the networks through TCRA, so approval isn't instant — and a few things can hold it up. Here's how to get unstuck.

Still pending?

Fresh Sender IDs typically take 1–3 business days while the networks register the name. If it's been longer than that, it usually means one of the networks flagged it for a manual check. You don't need to do anything — but message us and we'll chase it directly with the carrier.

Common reasons for rejection

  • Looks like another brand: Names that resemble a bank, MNO, or well-known company are blocked to prevent impersonation. Use your own registered business name.
  • Generic or misleading words: Things like "INFO", "VERIFY", "OTP", "PROMO" or "WINNER" are often refused. Use your brand, not a function.
  • Too long: Sender IDs are max 11 characters (letters/numbers, no spaces).
  • No supporting documents: For a business name, the networks may ask for your business registration or a letter of authorisation.

How to fix it

  1. Pick a Sender ID that matches your registered business or product name.
  2. Keep it to 11 characters or fewer, no spaces.
  3. If we ask for documents, send your business registration (or a brief authorisation letter on letterhead).
  4. Resubmit from Portal > Sender IDs, or just tell us the name you want and we'll register it for you.
In a hurry? Tell us your business name and what you'll use it for, and we'll handle the registration and follow up with the networks for you.
