Understanding Sender IDs in Tanzania
Everything about registering your Brand Name (e.g., 'SAKURA') vs. numeric headers.
The Power of a Brand Name
Messages sent from a branded sender ID like "SAKURA" have a 40% higher open rate than those from unknown numbers like +255 7XX... A Sender ID is your digital signature on every message.
Types of Sender IDs
- Alphanumeric — Your brand name (e.g., SAKURA, MYSHOP). Max 11 characters. Requires TCRA approval.
- Numeric — A phone number (e.g., +255712345678). No approval needed but lower trust.
- Short Code — A 4-6 digit number. Enterprise only, highest trust level.
