The Power of a Brand Name

Messages sent from a branded sender ID like "SAKURA" have a 40% higher open rate than those from unknown numbers like +255 7XX... A Sender ID is your digital signature on every message.

Types of Sender IDs

  • Alphanumeric — Your brand name (e.g., SAKURA, MYSHOP). Max 11 characters. Requires TCRA approval.
  • Numeric — A phone number (e.g., +255712345678). No approval needed but lower trust.
  • Short Code — A 4-6 digit number. Enterprise only, highest trust level.

TCRA Rules and Guidelines

  • Length: Maximum 11 characters
  • Content: Must relate to your business name. Generic names like "promo" or "alert" will be rejected
  • Characters: Letters, numbers, and spaces only. No special characters (&, @, #)
  • Approval Time: 3-5 business days (network operator dependent)

How to Request a Sender ID

  • Click Request New ID
  • Enter your desired sender name
  • We handle the paperwork with Vodacom, Tigo, Airtel, and Halotel on your behalf

Network-Specific Notes

  • Vodacom: Strictest approval process. Business license mandatory.
  • Tigo: Moderate approval time. Accepts BRELA certificate.
  • Airtel: Fastest approval, usually within 2 days.
  • Halotel: Accepts most registered business names.
Pro Tip: Avoid special characters like & or @ in your sender ID, as they can cause routing issues on older feature phones.
