Reaching Customers on WhatsApp

WhatsApp broadcasts let you send pre-approved template messages to large audiences. Unlike SMS, WhatsApp messages support rich media, buttons, and interactive elements.

Prerequisites

  • Active WhatsApp Business API connection (configured in Settings)
  • At least one approved message template
  • Contact group with valid WhatsApp numbers

Creating a Broadcast

  • Go to WhatsApp > Broadcast
  • Select an approved template from the dropdown
  • Choose your target audience (contact groups or manual selection)
  • Fill in any template variables (e.g., customer name, order number)
  • Preview the message as it will appear on the recipient's phone
  • Click Send Broadcast or schedule for later

Template Types

  • Marketing — Promotions, offers, product announcements
  • Utility — Order updates, appointment reminders, delivery notifications
  • Authentication — OTP codes, verification messages

Delivery and Reporting

  • Track delivery status in real-time: sent, delivered, read, failed
  • WhatsApp provides read receipts (blue ticks) for delivered messages
  • Failed messages show specific error codes (e.g., number not on WhatsApp)

Best Practices

  • Maintain a high quality rating by keeping opt-out rates low
  • Use utility templates for transactional messages (higher delivery priority)
  • Personalize every message — generic blasts get flagged by Meta
  • Respect the 24-hour messaging window for non-template messages
Cost Note: WhatsApp broadcasts are charged per conversation (not per message). A conversation window lasts 24 hours from the first message. Rates vary by conversation category.
